Cellist Plays A Duet With Her Brainwaves, Cyborgs May Be Real

Um what?

Cellist Katinka Kleijn is pretty much a cyborg. Or about as close as you can get.

Using an EEG that turns her brain waves into sound, she is able to play a duet with herself. According to the Chicago Reader, Kleijn practiced meditation to be able to control the sounds made by her brain.

A DUET WITH HER OWN BRAIN, people. This is what it sounds like:

The piece she is playing is called "Intelligence in the Human-Machine" and it's a collaboration between Kleijn, sound engineer Ryan Ingebritsen and composer Daniel Dehaan. They hope to extend the collaboration to more pieces in the future, possibly a dystopian future full of robots that takes place in space.

H/T and hugs to Lauren Ober and WAMU
