Here are the songs that defined America from Nov. 25 to Dec. 1, presented by BuzzFeed and Spotify. A stateâs âsignature songâ is not its most popular, but its most distinctive â that is to say, the one that residents of that state streamed proportionally the most as compared with the U.S. as a whole.

There is life after #elevatorgate.
On May 5, the night of the Met Gala, Solange, Jay-Z, Beyoncé and a security guard piled into an elevator at The Standard hotel in New York City. Seconds after an exchange of words, Solange hurled herself at an unresponsive Jay-Z with punches and kicks as a quiet Beyoncé looked on. Conspiracy theories were plentiful — from Jay-Z's supposed criticism of Solange's musical career, to whispers of infidelity, the mystery of what exactly ~went down~ in the elevator was never solved. Saturday Night Live offered up one fun alternate theory: Solange saved him from a nefarious eight-legged creature.

Known for her bold color blocking style and experimental fashion choices, Solange served as creative director for Puma's "Wild Wonder" capsule collection, which dropped on December 1. Look out for the upcoming "Behind the Bazaar" collection, coming out on December 13.
